My Tavia never gets on the kitchen table, or the counters, or the stove. And never begs for food. Where as my dog is always getting on the kitchen table and the stove and such and she does beg me for food but she does my dad. We have tried to break this habit of hers and haven't done it. Not sure where she got this from I have had her since she was a puppy. But my ex used to feed her while he was eating I tried to tell him not to do that but he didn't listen very well. And so she climbs which is a bit weird since my Tavia doesn't do that.

Yea, my dog Gracie Never begs for food because we've never allowed her to be present while supper is going on and we don't give her people food at all.

She does like to jump up onto things and people though. (she's just a pup 9months old)

Yen was given people food by her last owners and she begs for table scraps as does my new addition, Mittens.

I too, find this an odd twist.

Well, you got your answer right there as to where she gets it from if your ex fed her at the table.
As Ilovesiamese says, crate her or put her elsewhere while dinner is on and never feed people food. That about says it all!

(To Ilovesiamese though...a 9 month pup shouldn't be jumping on people if you don't want her to..its not something a dog necessarily grows out of...If you are teaching her 'off', then its more pleasant for guests and less of a liability with children...Its a pet peeve of mine but I can't stand when dogs are allowed to jump all over people..Not that you do that! I am just speaking generally here...)
