Wonderful Day for Ruby!

Ruby had a great day today. I guess we got some good karma for taking her in off the streets. We got a flyer in the mail today announcing the Grand Opening of an all cat clinic in town offering a free head to tail check-up. I called immediately, got an appointment and my husband came home and took her in. They checked her out and said that she should be delivering any day. They said she is just over 6 months old (poor baby). Because of her small size 3.5 lbs and stature, the vet fears problems with delivery. Luckily, after chatting with the vet, my husband found that she lives about 1/2 mile from us. She gave him her home phone and cell phone number and told us to call her if there were any problems during delivery at any time and she'd assist FREE of charge.

I can rest easy knowing that the cat is healthy (they drew a some blood and ran some tests) and that I have someone to call on in an emergency.

That is great that she got a vet check. But very scary to think of a cat only 3-1/2 pounds, and 6 months old being pregnant! Thank goodness you have taken her in, so she will have help if needed when she delivers!

It is very scary. Until I started researching, I always thought the six-month mark was the VERY earliest a cat could become pregnant. If the tom or toms that impregnated her (at approx 4 months) were humans they would be charged with child molestation/rape. I'll try to get my revenge by trapping them and getting them fixed however.

Wow. I am a little worried at her age and size for having kittens. I am definitely sending good hopeful vibes your way.
