so I have a kitty thats about 10 or 11 weeks old and every late afternoon(after work) when we wake up from our nap together(he sleeps on me on the coach)he wakes up and starts bathing me, licks me all over my neck,chest,and face? is this an act of affection or what? also while hes doing this hes purring very loud

My 1 year old cat used to lick us ALL the time. We would wake up in the middle of the night with him licking our faces or our toes. As affectionate as it was, it was REALLY annoying at 2:00 in the morning!
He eventually stopped doing it as much. I guess he just kind of grew out of it.
