Hi!
I recently discovered (accidentally) that my cat had both kidney (renal) stones and bladder stones. My vet wanted to do surgery on the bladder stones--kidney's couldn't be touched. I'm not sure how to proceed. My cat is 12 years and I don't want to put her through surgery. Anyone else go through this? Advise, please!

Hi, I have had one cat with bladder stones, which we did have surgically removed when he was 14. At the time, he'd had very good health and we felt it was worth doing. Since then, unrelated, I swear he's had the kitchen sink of problems thrown at him...but we are still glad we did the surgery.

I would certainly want to know the prognosis re the kidney stones before deciding if to proceed, and see if they have been able to determine what kind of stones your cat has - struvite or calcium oxalate.

wishing all the best with this,
