We signed the contract with the realtor to sell our old house in mid April, and she thought she could sell the house in a week. EVERY time it has sold in the past it hasn't taken more than 2 weeks. It's unique, on lots of land, and its in the best shape it has been since it was built in 1884.

Granted, it took a few weeks for the listing to get posted, then it started to show and we found out that something had crawled under the house and died. The smell was so bad that we had to reclean everything and put in a whole house purifier to get rid of that smell.

As of last weekend, the smell is finally gone and they can start showing it again. But in the mean time, the 1 hour drive over there to keep that house up for showing (cleaning, mowing, gardening) with an hour back every other day is wearing on us.

Please send some house selling vibes our way please!!! Our critters are getting tired of us being gone!

Aww! I hope it sells soon. I can imagine how irritating it can get driving back and forth just for chores! If you could pick it all up and plop it down near here I'd buy it!

I've heard you can hire someone that "dresses" your house to sell. It may be harder if you aren't living there w/out furniture though. Ask your realtor if there are any cosmetic improvements that you can make to help.

Good Luck!!! I hope nothing else bad happens!

The housing market in the Metro Detroit area is terrible right now. Some neighbors of ours have had their house for sale since last November and still no buyers!

We've left furniture over there and have had the realtor over there way before we even moved to ask her what was to be done to get it ready to sell. She raised the asking price by close to $50,000 after she saw what we did to improve it. With her first viewing, she couldn't get past all the dogs, cats and litterboxes! Once removed and fully painted, new carpet, new floors, plumbing, new doors, etc, she saw it for what it was - a real gem. That's why we were so mad when something crawled under and died and stunk it up - it ain't easy getting dog/cat smell out of a house when they've lived there for 13 years. We actually sanded down walls and repainted some of them.

The realtor did call last night and she said we have a nibble. They live out of town and will be back early next week with their contractor to look at it again. They REALLY loved the house and rightfully, wants to know what they are getting into with an 1884 house.

I sure hope someone buys your house.

My DH and I are going to the bank friday to see if we can get a preapproved morgage and for how much. We are SICK of renting and would like to own our own home ina small town close to where I go to school.

I just looked at the house listing again and they have a bunch of virtual tours out there now. Looking at the outdoor shots, just realized that just about every darn cat that lives with me was born around there - some in the barn, some in the garage, some under the porch, and some in the storm cellar. If you click on the virtual tours, just imagine a colony of feral cats living all around this house.

I think your house looks like a nice family home. It looks like it has good history and character. I love the orange color. Nice. I don't understand why it hasn't sold yet!
