Ok, so we've been giving Marbles and Alex dry food all day and then they share a pouch of wet food in the evening. They won't eat the dry food during the day now and just wait until I get out the wet food in the evening. Sometimes They eat the dry food after their wet food is gone, but generally they just wait for the wet food then chow down. Maybe DH was right that I would spoil them on dry food?

Spoiled, shmoiled - it's better for them to eat wet food than dry!!!

Besides, it's new and is a treat, so of course they're going to hold out for it! That's one of the reasons I give my girl wet in the mornings only, and the rest of the day she has her bowl of dry to eat from.

Who is training who?

Harley used to be on dry only - but since I've switched him to wet - he LOVES it - he hardly eats the dry, which is great. He always holds out til its time to eat the wet pouches!

He gets 3 a day - one in the morning, one at noon and one in the evenings at supper time. He never touches the dry anymore, excpet when he's really hungry between meals!

I feed both wet and dry, but the wet food is always a surprise, Smokey never knows when he is going to get it, and that keeps him eating the dry food, I don't feed wet everyday, but every other day or every few days, that keeps him on his toes and knows that he must eat his dry food, cause he doesn't know when the wet is coming....

He is such a piggy though I don't think he would care,, but I have always done this with him, just so he would not get used to the wet food only.

I still say he needs something crunchy to help with his teeth since he will not eat raw meaty bones like my dogs do.

Mine still eat the dry. They get a total of one can twice a day split between 4 cats. Any more than that and it would go to waste and dry up. Some of them like the wet more than others.. Rocky seems to only really like the friskies turkey & cheese, but I don't put that out all the time. They graze on the dry.. It def gets eaten, though I think some eat more of it than others.

Dry food actually doesn't do anything for their teeth. They break the piece with the tip of their tooth and then swallow it. They don't chew like we do.
