In some places it's perfectly legal to smash the window of a car with a child or animal in heat distress (or imminent heat distress) to save them. I think that's the case in Colorado and I know that's the case in Arizona.
I totally agree..I think that alot of the worlds problems would be solved if people actually practiced "do unto others as you would have done to you". Why don't people just think for one moment.."do I want to stay in this hot car, or would I rather be at home in the AC?" duh. I'm pretty sure the furry dog would LOVE to stay home in this circumstance.Originally Posted by AmberThe Bobcat
I hate when they do this too. I think if they get caught, they should be made to sit in their car in the hot sun, for like a half hour with the windows just cracked, to see how they feel. When it's this hot, just leave your pets home. They are much happier there, than riding around in a hot car.
I'm not sure I'd even stop to wonder about the legality of smashing the window - I'd just do it. Then the next thing would be to take out my cell phone and call the police and stay right there until they came.Originally Posted by valanhb

Please tell me you called the police. Or got the dog some water. The poor thing wouldn't have been able to lay down on the hot street. His paw pads were probably burning hot as well.Originally Posted by SillyJilly
I was in the same irate mood yesterday when it was like 90 degrees here too and these idiots at the club across the street had leashed their black long haired dog to a high wall in the middle of the sun without water or any shade and the dog couldn't even lay down! I wasso angry!!! Some people are just jerks and should be.... steralized.
Some idiot would probably shave the dog & then leave it in the car...."it will be cooler that way". I think I had to explain that to someone once....shaving a dog before leaving it in the car doesn't help. They're still going to cook. Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to a brick wall...Originally Posted by Trouts mom
