Cass is still showing no signs of going into labour and I am starting to wander about my dates, She has been showing for well over a month, and nesting for about 2 weeks, for the last week she has been getting really clingy and likes to be in the room with me or dh at all times except over night when she is happy to be in her room. She is still eating loads and still growing. Hers sides are solid and huge (bless her) I haven't noticed any milk from her teets but they are swollen and very red.........Do her bumps drop as a sign she is nearly ready to go, I'm not sure I can't remember what to look for from our cats as kids. can anybody please give me an idea of how long she has left.......I know I haven't given you much to go on....

Sam...there is no definitive way to give you a date...especially if you don't know the exact date of mating. Milk production occurs normally occurs 2 to 3 days before labor...and that would be the best indication...so it sounds like she still has some time (although she is probably close).

Thats what I thought, but I know she caught on the 29th March as it was the day before we went on holiday, her sister (who is with a friend of mine) had her kittens last week and she caught us unaware as she did not leak milk until after she had given birth.........I don't know who is more nervous me or her

Sam....was this a planned pregnancy or an unplanned pregnancy?? That would clarify dates. Also...some cats do not necessarily show milk ahead of time, which is why there is no way to give you an exact date that she is due. I do hope that you are sharing with your friend the advice you have received from this message board. If it was an unplanned pregnancy, your friend will need to keep her cat strictly indoors only until she is spayed once the kittens are weaned.

It was an unplanned pregnancy, but we are all happy about it, I have good homes for up to six kittens through family and friends, we talked long and hard about it when we realised she had been caught and decided to go ahead with this litter then get her done incase she escapes again, not exactly responsible I know but we are happy with the descision.

Sam....since cats can get pregnant again as early as a week after giving birth, my suggestion is that you provide her with a nesting area that is at least 2 doors away from the outside. You are correct, what is done is done...but I would highly recommend that you take all the measures that you can to prevent a second litter since as you can tell on this board, there are many kittens that are being born right now and need homes. It's good you have homes lined up for any kittens born, but it will also be just as important to follow through to make sure that those kittens are spayed/neutered to prevent further births.

Don't worry, the front door is not being used at the moment as she is in the porch and she will!!!!! not be getting out again, it's ironic isn't it........it seems that in the states there are too many kittens about but here people were asking before she was 6 months old that if we ever had a litter would we keep them in mind for a kitten, mad or what..........that made me angry though as I do know people who just let their cat have litter after litter after litter which is not my way!!!!!!!

if she mated on March 29th she is 63 days along so could be any day to up to a week. But from what I have read ave is 65-67 days. GL with the babies!
