i know that kittens need to stay with their mom for 8-12 weeks but my mom wants to know why and i realized that i didnt know either. we understand that they have to stay with mom until 8 weeks but we were just wondering why. thanks!

By staying with mom for this amount of time means 1) better nutrition and 2) they learn a lot from their mother, not only how to use the litter box but how to behave with others. Many kittens taken from their mothers too soon don't understand that biting and scratching others is not good or they are skittish. Mom knows best how to discipline and train them. It is like the difference between a human leaving home at 15 vs 18.
