Hi!
I need some advice on training my 4 wk old new kitten that my husband rescued. Squeeker has now decided over night that he is a big boy and can do what my other 5 cats do. He has weaned himself overnight and is now using his carrier as a litterpan. So I am thinking that he should start trying to use the litterbox right? It was just a week ago my husband brought in this tiny, little, half dead kitten that he rescued from a house fire and we were not even sure that he would live through the night-now he is eating great and trying to tear the house apart!
I do not want to rush him into anything but like I said earlier he has just decided to become a big boy overnight! I need some advice and help on how to get him litterbox trained. Also I have been having trouble getting him to poop-I stimulate him after every meal and he will go days without pooping! I am not sure what else to do for this. About all I know is that I should not start out using clumping litter since they tend to try and eat it-other than that a few common sense things but would appreciate any help and advice.

Our rescue uses the cardboard boxes that they sell canned catfood in at the petstore for litterboxes....they are pretty sturdy and you can usually find a few that you can take for free. I would restrict him to one room (that is easy to clean) and give him several litterbox options.

Good Luck.
