It shouldn't be a problem. Putting ice cubes in a cat's water dish is often a way to encourage them to drink more water. I wouldn't put tons of ice in the dish, but a couple of cubes should be fine, and at 92 degrees they'll melt quickly.

Whenever I put an ice cube in my cats water bowl she just plays with it and makes a big mess.

I do it for Baby Brat and for Skittles... They love ice... Baby will make a mess but I will clean it Skittles chases it with her tongue but in the hot weather I think it is good for them

Haha, Oliver just looks at me like I'm nuts when I throw an ice cube in his bowl (usually I'll just toss one in if it's fallen on the floor)... my black lab on the other hand, LOVES chomping on ice cubes as summer treats... I'm not sure how cat fountains work since I don't own one, but I dont see how it would cause a problem... you can always dampen your kitty's fur with a wet washcloth or paper towel for a nice cool down

I think it's a great idea to put a couple of ice cubes into your cat's water bowl. I have been doing the same just to encourage my 2 boys to drink some more (it's been in the 80's in NYC and we don't have A/C). They play and make a mess of it - but hey it's water and in this weather it evaporates in no time!

I was going to ask the same thing

The only thing I was wondering is if the water gets too cold, would it hurt their teeth? But I figured if its hot enough for ice, that it will melt quickly.

Although my cats dont seem to even notice the ice to play with it, like everyone elses cat does :p
