Hi. How much pumpkin should I feed Hope to get her bowels to firm up? I switched diets recently and I'm not sure if it was that or possibly she at half of an english muffin the other day (not sure which cat was the culprit!). Anyway the vet also suggested coconut but I hadn't heard of using that.

When I give it, it is one or two spoonfulls, wait 24-48 hours, repeat if needed.
Some cats like the stuff and will eat it willingly, mine don't, I mix with canned food.

I use a regular tea spoon (the long skinny one) and give my cat about 1 heaping spoonful. I mix it in with her canned food, but she'll also eat it by itself. If your cat won't eat it, you might try mixing in some unsalted chicken broth.

Lily ate all of her pumpkin willingly, Twitch ate most of it willingly, & Ophelia looked at it as though it was poison, even when miced with canned food. I gave all 3 1 tablespoon full once a day for 3 days. Now I give them one tablespoon full 2x a week for hairballs, once extra this week because they got baths yesterday.

If Hope won't eat it willingly, you can measure out a portion & give it to her little by little mixed with canned food. She has to clean up all of the food/pumpkin before she gets more. That's what I did with Ophie.

I thought Pumpkin was for constipation and asodophilis(sp?) was for diarrhea?

My Panther suddenly has diarrhea and I was gving him yogart. His poops started to firm up but then went back to looking like a dark mustardy pancake. I just bought asodophilis culture for him!
