Hello,

I have a beautiful DSH neutered male red point siamese and he is 6 yrs old. I feed him Medical Preventive formula (dunno if this matters anyhoo). So earlier this week Stu startin vomittin up repeately of just bile (no cat food or anything). This is probably too much info, but it was brown liquid no food in it. So I freaked out and took him to the vet clinic where they proceeded to do blood tests, xrays and urine tests. Everything looked fine EXCEPT Stu has low blood proteins... more specifically Stu has low Albumin, which could mean that he has kidney/liver/leukemia or pancreas problems.
So they gave Stu an antinaus injection, some gastro wet cat food and tonic lax (stu appears to be constipated as they could see from the xray)... also Stu is dehyrdrated...

So the vet said if he got sick again within the next week to bring him in... well he's been doin good thankfully... but I am worried... they said that they could offer further tests if Stu proceeded to be sick after I got him home. Well Stu has been fine but I still want the tests since if anything major is happening I want to start action now! Anyone gone through this? I am so sad and confused.. I LOVE my cat
I cant stop crying...

Hopefully somebody will come along with some experience with what you're dealing with. The site usually has the most traffic in the evening.

jamie, I would suggest you go with whatever your vet is recommending. It is hard for people to diagnosis cats over the internet, not to mention a darn foolish and dangerous practice.

I would ask if they could give you some fluids to give him at home. Otis has problems with his kidneys and I have to keep him very hydrated. I bought a cat-it water fountain which helps. He got really sick once and was in critical care on fluids for 5 days but he bounced back pretty well after that. When cats have problems like this it's very important to keep them well hydrated so that their bodies can normalize. I'm surprised they didn't send you home with any fluids to begin with. Hope this helps some.

Yes this does help a lot!! I started to give them all Britta water to see if this would encourage him to drink.. but gettin the water fountain was something I would have never thought of... I will buy one and see if this helps. They offered to may be keep him at the vet clinic over night to monitor him... but I wasnt sure if they would give him an IV or what not.. to help hydrate him.

Thank you for your help!!

If he won't drink on his own I suggest that you get a syrennge (without a needle of course!) and force him to drink. He NEEDS water. Put him on vitamins also, I find that the paste cat vitamins work best, once it's in their mouth it's not going back out.

Please keep us updated.
