I am SO glad Mishka is doing so much better! I cannot believe the first vet didn't notice the yellow tinge to his tongue. I lost my dear Bob to liver disease a few months ago, and that yellow discoloration is unmistakable. You & your husband are really to be commended for hunting so diligently for a different vet; you both deserve a big pat on the back.
Sending tons of good vibes to Mishka. Good luck with your fur-baby, and with your baby-to-be. Please keep us updated.

So happy things turned out so well! Said a prayer for your kitty- and it is easy to get distracted in your situation, so please don't fret about it, and enjoy waiting on your new little one ; )!

I just caught this thread and wanted to send some get well soon vibes to your precious Mishka!!

I hope he's back at home with you very soon!
This is one of my biggest fears as Madden likes to try to eat everything too!! We have to be extra careful not to leave anything small where he could get to it, so I can only imagine what you are going through!!

Give him lots of cuddles for us when you see him again!

Oh guys- you are ALL so amazing here! Thank you for your kind words and support!
I have to agree with some of you- I HAVE TO PAT my hubby in a back- cause, after he took Mishka out of the first hospital - saying we're so not paying 2500 for this surgery- i thought that was it- he is not going to find other way to help Mishka, He start telling me- for this kind of money we could get us couple more cats and I was surprised how AFTER THAT he took things seriously- called his parents to ask about credit card, then was searching Internet for other hospitals around. As I said - it was Memorial Day weekend- so the only open hospitals were emergency ones, the regular hospitals would only be open Tuesday and God knows what would of happen with Mishka by that time.
Anyways, my hubby loves Mishka so much, and I am just really happy that I did not have to pull this thing out on my own without his support.
So, I spoke to the doctor at 9 PM today- they still do not want to release Mishka out home yet, just to make sure he is holding food ok, and not vomiting. She told me- his blood tests came back really good and liver seems to be fine, but we will know for sure on Tuesday ( regular business hours, when lab is open) , he is recovering really good, walking around and drinking water a lot ( after the surgery I guess). She said not to worry- and call back in a morning to see how is he doing, probably we'll be able to take him home later tomorrow night. We miss him so much though! We are so used to the sound of his collar's bell!!! We're keep looking around the house- hoping to see him laying around somewhere, sleeping, or playing with something... But, I know- he is in good hands right now.. Just hate to think- he's thinking we left him there forever..

Right now we are "cat proofing" our house!
well, OK OK, not we are, my hubby does!
My big belly and swellowed feet won't let me do that kind of job, but hubby seems to be crazy about this one- he wants to make sure that Mishka comes back tot he safest place ever- with no wires or rubber bands laying around.... He finally heard my prayers- I've beeing begging him to get me something to keep Mishka's toys in- like a box or drawer, but he was always saying- this could wait- well, not anymore!

And we are also getting health insurance.
I will keep you guys posted and thanks again for your support!

It sounds as if Mishka is recovering nicely--I'm so happy for you & your hubby

As an added bonus,while your house is being "kitty-proofed" it's also being "baby-proofed"! You're getting a 2-for-1!
Hope Mishka continues to improve & is home with you soon.

I am sending lots of healing vibes to Miskha for an uneventful, speedy recovery.

This is a reminder to all of us....
Before Miskha's ordeal, I did not know about cats being attracted to rubber bands.
We must be vigilant, even get down on the floor to check for items that could harm our kitties.
We should do it daily if necessary.
Better safe than sorry.

Miskha

I'm so glad Mishka is doing better! He looks a lot like my kitty Jasmine! I'm glad your hubby took the time to find a better vet! I'll bet he is going to make a great Daddy!

WE ARE HOME!!!!!
Its a pity to see Mishka in such a "sick" stage of his life- but I am so greatefull he made it through- still praying for him to eat and poop!
He seems to be so happy to be finally home. When we were at the hospital and tech showed us how to give him his medicine, he hissed and growled at him, and sounded not like our baby at all! Puherps he was tired of the needles and being pushing around, but on our way home, I could not help it- but stick my hand isnide his carrier and he put all his little face in my palm and left it there till we got home!!!!
Oh, I feel so bad for him, I wish I could take some of his pain away now!!!! He has a huge cut on his belly with staples that vet will take off in 10 days- other then that- he seems to be really fine.. he's walking around, licking his paws, laying around...and guess what I am doing? Following him everywhere... lol...
here he is..

Oh, I just saw this thread now.. I'm sorry Mishka had to go through this, but I am very glad that he is home safe now..I'm sure he is glad to be home too
Don't mind the growling...our baby did that at the vet too..when we went to visit her, she just growled the whole time under her breath. They are so helpless and weak, I think it's an automatic defense mechanism. I'm sure Mishka isn't growling now that he's home.
