Hello,
Storm gave birth to 5 kittens last monday. They are 11 days old right now and everyhting seems fine. They look like they are gaining properly but I'm going by eye. I can't them apart as they are all black so I have not been weighing them.
Here's my question: this morning, I woke up to a very messy cat box. There was poop in several places and many of the kittens had dirty bums. The consistency of the poop is pretty wet (yogurt like) and some was mucousy. It was the right color though - mustard yellow. I cleaned them all up and figured they must have been suckling on each other and stimulated a kitten by accident.
This afternoon, same thing again. They are obviously going without being stimulated by mom as there are several poop spots on the bedding. This time, one spot was rust colored instead of mustard yellow but the rest looked normal colored - just pretty wet.
1- Do they have diarhea ? What can be done about this ? They are still breastfeeding so I can't add anything to their food ...
2- Why, at 11 days, are they going on their own ? Isn't this normally around 3 weeks ? Anything I can do to reduce the mess of 5 kittens pooping all over the place ?
3- Why would momma NOT be cleaning them ? Everything else looks normal, everyones appetite is good. The kittens appetite is voracious and so is momma's.
Help !
Please !
