I woke up this morning to a horribly foul smell in my house. Jada had 2 big piles of diarrhea in her box and over the side of her box! I was shocked but am wondering if it has to do with the fact that I started feeding her wet food a couple of days ago. She had been off of wet food for about 6 or 7 months now. I started feeding her the wet food again so she could teach her babies how to eat it.

Could that have caused the diarrhea or could she be sick?

It could have been caused by feeding her wet food again.

I'm hoping that's it. I will keep an eye on her box for a few days. Hopefully she will get used to it again. I did forget to mention that she's not eating the wet food today. I put it down for her today and she scratched around it as if to mark it and then went for the hard food again.

Maybe she doesn't like it...you may want to switch to a different brand. Are the kittens eating it??

Ok, I'm freaking out cuz I'm now thinking Jada has been bitten by a spider or something. Her left side of her lip up to her whiskers is swollen and when I looked inside her mouth I think I see an ulcer. Could this have caused the diarrhea yesterday morning? I did notice her lip looked pink yesterday but I didn't think much of it. But today it's swollen bigger. She's nursing the 4 babies so I'm wondering if I should be concerned about them? Should I just keep an eye on things or call the vet?

How is Jada doing today? Are the kittens well?

With my first foster (Festus's Mom), I never used canned food. The kittens started crunching her dry kitten food...so I simply left a bowl of dry out, and a separate bowl of the dry food moistened with water.

Now I always use some dry, and some moistened with KMR. That way you can slowly transition Jada to the moist food.
