I've posted about this before but am having more problems with my cat Jazz. He was neutered on May 9th. He had sprayed in the house and peed outside of the box a couple of times before the neuter. It's been 2 weeks now since his neuter and he is again spraying. He's also walking around the house whining and scratching and seeming to be "searching" for a place to urinate. When I hear this I have to shew him to the litterbox, otherwise he'll just pee wherever. I don't understand what could be wrong or why he's doing this? He seems very confused and aggitated when he's pacing, whining, scratching and searching for a place to pee. Why is he sometimes avoiding his box? He uses it some times and other times he's not. He never poos outside of the box though.

I'm sort of at my wit's end with it and just don't know what to do. Any advice would be appreciated.

I've heard that when it seems like a cat has troubles peeing like you describe they might have a UTI, not sure if males get these too? maybe call the vet and ask his opinion?

I honestly don't know, I wouldn't think so, they have UT's too, I guess I've only read about girls, so

I think UTI's are more common in males and yes, do call the vet.

He most definitely needs to go to the vet. It may even be a blockage rather than a UTI causing this behavior. Blockages can be fatal, so it is very important that he be taken in for a urinalysis ASAP.

Good luck and let us know what the vet finds.

p.s. It takes 3 to 4 weeks for testosterone to completely clear the body after neutering, so it is not surprising that he is still spraying. Hopefully in another week or two, his urge to spray will disappear.
