I've been a "foster" mama of both feral and previously housed cats and it's been so much fun and so rewarding but alas it has been some time since my last foster kitty...I managed to have two which I worked hard to climatize to humans and they were actually stolen. They were both beautiful, wonderful girls and I pray wherever they are now that they're happy and well loved as they deserved to be.

One little boy one I got actually from a vet who'd rescued the feral Mama who had died suddenly. It ended up he had a heart condition and had to be put to sleep. The last kitty I had was hit by a car. My area just isn't the area for kitties and the next one I'll try keeping INSIDE!

I have two of my own cats named Bailey and Danny. Baily is 5 yrs old and Danny 2 and for the life of me I can't get the two to get along. I recently got Danny neutered so I'm hoping that'll help because more and more I'm refusing to let them out. Danny ADORES and PREFERS the inside but Bailey (whose actually my hubbys kitty, got him for dads day) LOVES it outside and stares longingly from the window. Because he can take care of himself so well I've let him out but not Danny--Danny is SOOO friendly.

Anyway- I am new here, this is my first post and I love this site!

Hi, Elyse. Welcome to the CatSite! I'm so glad you joined us. It sounds as though you really love animals. I do hope those two ferals you helped have good homes. When you consider all of the kittens at the shelters and advertised in the paper, you would wonder why those people had to stoop to steal! You could have screened any possible owners. It's a shame you didn't have that privilege.

What also is really bad is those folks who want to house several homeless kitties (or doggies for that matter) and who go to seek out their licenses to do so? The local Humane Society wants to up their tab to 500.00 for the kennel fees! Their getting mad that folks are taking it upon themselves to take care of homeless pets.

I really loathe our local humane society. I have visited SEVERAL times and each time I have noted how they really don't support the adoption of their pets. Their workers are extremely unfriendly and will help you very little. Also, they don't promote licensing ones pets which gets me since they're whining about money! I went in to license my cat Danny (whom I've had 2 yrs) and I have a dog I haven't licensed whom I want to have spayed FIRST so they denied my license for my cat! See, I'm getting my pets fixed one at a time due to costs and such and had just had him fixed but she tells me she won't license him until I license my dog, it's sick.

I miss PAWS...wish they were down here to. The PAWS up in Washington is just WONDERFUL, I remember my experiences there well. Thanks for the great welcome.
