I found a little stray kitten yesterday by himself, eyes crusted shut and dirty. I took him to the vet and had him cleaned up and he's now taking some meds for his eyes. I believe he is no older than 5 weeks old. I just got him drinking kitty formula from a syringe and occasionally I can coax him to eat some fancy cat wet food. He's quite a cuddler, loves to be held. But, therein lies the problem... I have yet to see him really walk around. He seems to be at an age where he should be walking around, but he does nothing but sit. I'm not sure if this has to do with him still being in a new environment and the fact that I have to torture him several times daily by administering the eye medication. Is there anything I can do to get this cat moving around? Also, I have a litter box in the area I keep him in, and I got him to pee in it once, but so far nothing since. How can I make him learn that this is the place to go? Never thought I'd own a cat, but here I am. He's adorable

is he peeing elsewhere?
offer him some high quality kitten food with a little tuna juice mixed in, the stinkier the better

sounds like he has a little upper resperatory infection maybe if his eyes are crusty and he may be stuffy and cant smell the food too well. You would try KMR too but I think he is a little old for that. I could be wrong though. Gotta get him eating though, or he will go downhill fast.

Have you tried getting him to play with some string? that often works.

ooo also don't use clumping litter if you are, that is bad for kittens in case they try to taste it, it can clump in their little bodies and sometimes they will sit in it and it can clump around their bottoms, get infected, red and swollen, a big mess.

Maybe it's not walking because it knows it cant see because of the eye infection.
What did the vet tell you?
At 5 weeks it should be walking .. maybe it's a little younger
Maybe its just really sore or bruised or something and can't manage to walk yet.

Good Luck
