For the past week this nice lovely well fed looking grey cat has been hanging out in my yard. He loves to be patted purrrrs and head butts, wants me to hold him. Today and last night I spent hours doing garden work he stayed right with me all the time. I had some big hostas to move which left big holes and he thought I was digging him a litter box. He jumped in and did his potty business a few times!! LOL.
I don't have alot of close neighbors most I know and I've asked if its there cat. We live in a rural area so theres no place to really hang any posters up that anyone would even see.. My computersits by a window to the back yard. He has now taken to doing this last night and today. bad pic but you can see him hanging off my screen!

He keeps jumping up and won't stop. So I thought maybe hes hungry and lost gave him some dry food and he went right into it. I've fed him 3 times today.
He appears to be not neutered. I think.. I have 5 cats I can't keep him if he is lost. I'm sure hes someones pet hes so friendly. Hes been laying on my porch for the past few hours. If we try to use the back door he trys to come in. Hes seen my cats through the window no hissing or growling.
Hes lonely and we have foxes around at night. I don't want him a foxes supper. Not sure what to do.I will give the Human Society and Vets a call tommorow to see if anyone has reported a lost cat around my neighborhood. I don't want to bring him to the Human society if hes someones pet and just hanging around for some reason. Hes been taken care of by the looks of him. Heavy and looks like hes been fed well. . So I will call and see what they think I should do.

Might I make a suggestion.....I would take him to the vet to see if he has a microchip. The other thing that you could do for him is have him neutered. Whether he looks like he has been taken care of....the fact that he is intact may mean that he is a friendly stray.

Awww!
He sounds like a really sweet little guy!
Well, maybe if you don't find the possible owner, you could neuter him and have another cat!
lol!
He's a pretty boy! lol!

My local human society is a very nice one. Its of course no kill and they will keep any cat as long as it takes to find them a good home. They fix them and give them all the shots and blood test for any diseases.Volunteers come in daily to help with the animals play with all the cats and walk the dogs. so I know the cat would be well taken care of and fopund a home. But if it does have a home I would feel terrible taking the cat there and the owner not knowing what happened to their cat.But I will do that if hes still around this week end.

Yeah, well, I know what you would mean about being nervous that the cat belongs to someone...and he does have a collar-BUT, the owner WOULD probably call the shelter about the cat, asking for it!

I called the shelter as he slept all night on my back stairs and kept trying to get in to the house this moning. They came and picked him up. Hes stopping off at the vets for a complete check up and his shots. Then he will stay at the shelter untill either his owners call for him or hes rehomed.we have rabies in the area so they said its best that he stay at the shelter safe and well cared for.I am putting some posters up on a few telephone poles so if anyone in the area is missing him. Hopefully they will see the signs and call the shelter. Its the best I can do for him.

You did the right thing...if the shelter is a no kill that is fabulous.
