Does a cat ALWAYS go into heat after giving birth? Moe's babies will be 3 weeks tomorrow and she shows no signs of heat. I was just wondering!

No....but the issue is that cats are induced ovulators which means that she doesn't have to be in heat to get pregnant again. As long as she is intact, you should keep her indoors only and away from intact males.

At some point its inevitable the cat will go into heat if its not spayed? Right?

My Tinkerbelle started showing signs of heat at around 6 weeks after the birth of her babies. The father of the babies (next door neighbour's cat) had the cheek to turn up at the door again! This time she was been locked in! Its week 8 now and she is still showing signs of heat. I can't wait until she has finished nursing to be able to get her spayed.

Thanks! She is inside and will stay inside until she is spay! I was just asking because it has been 3 weeks and no signs of heat. I wasn't sure if all cats go into heat right after or if some go into heat later. I am taking her and the babies at the same time to be spay/neutered as I am keeping all of them.

Just like woman have different 'cycles'...so do cats....so she will go into heat at some point, but hopefully she will hold out until you can have her spayed.

Yes they do.....and good of you to keep mom away from dad cat.

Here's hoping the nursing duties end soon.
