nursing mom question!!!

Can anyone tell me what it looks like if a queen has a mammary infection?!!

Lucy..have you contacted your vet?? Not sure if anyone here has had experience with an infection or not, so calling your vet if you suspect something is usually a good idea.

Cracked and bleeding/weeping nipples - usually only one or two (depending on the size of the litter). Angry and inflamed looking as opposed to the other nipples...Painful to the touch. If your mom cat has these, please, stop the kittens from nursing immediately and take mom to the vet for antibiotics!!! I'm not a vet BTW, I just met unfortunately, a backyard breeder with a mom cat showing these symptoms...

I hear it is war to the touch and the nipples dont look good.... I think if you feel she has one call the vet it is so painful for us humans I am sure it is to the fur mommys.
