I've made an appointment at the vets this evening for Clara but would appreciate any advice before then if possible. Clara is 8 weeks old tomorrow and I've noticed a very small amount of blood in each of the three deposits she left in the litter tray overnight and this morning. It's not mixed in with the stool, just some very bright red blood at the top of each. She's not crying when she uses her tray and is eating fine. She's been confined to the kitchen since I brought her home and i've been really careful to make sure there's nothing she could have eaten by accident. The only thing she could have had is a piece of my older cats Iams dry food which spilled when i was filling up tabs bowl. There's no sign of any soreness on her bottom at all and she seems to be in great spirits. Is there anything in particular i should be asking the vet? I did ask if i should take a sample but they said it didn't matter.

Could be nothing, but I'd bring in a stool sample to have tested. Blood can be a sign of parasites.

thanks. the vet said she seems healthy enough and wormed her to be on the safe side. She just said to bring her back in if she stops eating but she should be fine.

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear she is doing well. Keep an eye on her stools, and take notice if you see anymore blood. Sometimes blood can be a sign of giardia, and a regular wormer may not get rid of it.

no more blood but she has started dragging her bottom along the floor after using her tray today. Is that a sign that the worming pill is working or does it mean it's getting worse?

I'm not sure why, but this appears to be normal. Layla did this before and after she was wormed. It's like they are trying to get them out, or so it would seem. It should stop once the medication works itself out in getting rid of the worms. If it continues enough that you get concerned, just give a friendly phone call to the vet.

Hi, I'm new here and I've been on pet sites before (Sugar Gliders) so I know I should check posts before adding another one.
This post is closely related but my kittens stools are runny and it's been like this all day. Just today.
Here's a little background. Her mother is farel (not sure on spelling) and we're not exactly sure who the father is. But I got her a couple weeks ago and this past week her sister died. My mom isn't sure why, but they came home and found her on the porch. I haven't talked to her to find out if there was any problems and i"m sure it might not have anything to do with it since it's been several weeks now that I've had her. But I would like to know what I should do. All of my other cats have been outdoor cats and I have never had one of my own to take care of. She's been running around and stuff when we still had her out. We keep her in our bedroom, but had to put her in our bathroom until we figure what's wrong out.
But mainly her stools are runny, there's blood in it. She's been using the bathroom a lot more the past couple days than she has this week. I normally scooped her "presents" out after she used it but after today I completely changed it just in case. I just need some advice, can anyone help?

You really need to take your kitty to the vet. There are a number of reasons she could be having the diarrhea and only the vet can do the testing and discover what the problem is with your kitty. Please take her to a vet.
