Hi cat lovers

Just joined up today as I needed advice - thread on Pregnancy/Kittens forum.

I have 5 cats, Maisie is 6 in August, Harry & Chloe (bruv & sis) are 3, Charlie (same Mum as H&C) is 2 and Mollie is nearly 1. Maisie is a black/grey/mink tabby. Harry is a beautiful very pale ginger, more apricot! Chloe is grey tabby with flecks of ginger. Charlie is a real carrot ginger and Mollie is black and white.

Mollie has just had kittens on Sunday (planned); she had 4 of them and has been a brilliant Mum so far. Wasn't sure as lots of internet sites say young cats may not be mature enough, but she's been great. My husband and I had been away on holiday and my parents were house and cat sitting - I think we were all relieved that she waited until we got home. However, despite all my reading up of how to help if we needed to, when I checked her at 7.00am on Sunday she had done the job all on her own. She just looked up at me as if to say "look what I did Mum!"

She has let us touch and hold the babies, for very short periods (30 seconds!) and as soon as one of them squeaks she comes running. However, I'm paranoid that if we interfere too much she'll desert them and let us get on with it and I don't fancy bottle feeding 4 kittens every few hours, so we're taking it very easy, letting her call the shots and generally just letting her know we're here for her.

Well, I could go on for hours about the babies but better not! I've bored enough people at work with pictures - I don't know how to post them on here though.

So that's me, as a cat owner anyway!

Welcome to TCS...good idea to let mom dictate the interaction with the kittens. Also.....wash your hands before and after handling them. You can never be too careful.

Hi Susannah and welcome to TCS!

I'm sure you'll love it here, much to learn and many great friends to make along the way!

It sounds like Mollie is doing a good job and agree to let her do her own thing, keeping an eye on her!

I look forward to hearing more about your kitties and getting to know you in the other forums!

I'll send you a PM about posting pictures!

Thanks for the welcomes. Yes, we are very particular about hand washing before and after handling the kittens, especially because we have other cats. Some people think we're mad because we're weighing the kittens daily and charting their progress, but I think if you're going to take on this responsibility you have to do it seriously. We chose to let Mollie get pregnant so we have to play our part!

Glad of any help on posting pictures.

Oh my, they are just adorable!

You might want to shrink them a little bit, though, as we have a rule for image size (in Fur Pictures, anyway) as we do have members on dial up!

You can shrink them in photobucket by clicking on 'edit' and resize them by percentage!

I'm pleased that my instructions worked for you!

Hi, yes the first thing I thought was "ouch, should have shrunk them a bit more". They're already 40% of original size. My husband has a flash Canon digital camera and I think its probably set on 'large' to get the quality. Will probably try 20% next time, in fact I'll give it a go for this message - group hug shot:
