I gave my nephews who graduated from HS last year & commuted the 1st year a leather portfolio that had paper/pen/a calculator/place for phone/cards/extra paper & all zipped up for easy carrying-they both said was best gift they got-

Something like that is on my list of possibilities also. I really need to get to the store.
I can't do that with this niece. I have the reputation as being a good gift-giver, so I have to give her a gift, and the pressure is high

I figured it out!
(Part of it anyways!)
I just ordered a Gift Card to her college Bookstore to give to her!
Its something that she'll DEFINATLY need - either for books, college clothing, school supplies - ANYTHING!
I'm going to get her something else (that I have yet to figure out... ) along with the Gift Card - jeez, I wish I woulda thought of this earlier!

Plus we gave him a laptop a few months back, because my hubby got a new one..
Well - I gave my cousin's girlfriend a Wal*Mart gift card. She loves the place, so why not let her pick out something she can use?
