I have my cousin's graduation open house this weekend, and I'm completely stuck on what to get her!

I want to get her something that she'll be able to use next year in college, and was thinking about putting together a little basket of the necessities that you'll need for your dorm/classes/ect. Does that sound dumb?!
I know I got a full tote of that kind of stuff when I graduated (towels, bathroom things, the necessities -) and I loved it! It came in SO handy, and of course the tote was great to have cuz I always needed an extra one of them.

But then I was thinking, that I'm sure someone else will do that, so then here I am...STUCK!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I think that's a great idea

I have 2 nieces graduating from high school this year. I had an idea, but it didn't work out, so it's back to the drawing board for me.

I just got done sending out a grad. package. But instead of the REAL necessities, I got her some things that arent so important, but FUN for college. I went and picked up a girls how to survive in college book, a real cute CD case, some lipgloss, Hair ties (for those mornings you forget to shower), some cute pens, a little frame to put pics in for her desk, A SUPER cute lamp, a little pillow and I think that's it. Oh wait, I DID put in one of those little bottles of Apple Pucker. Just for funsies!

Just an idea. Because Usually someone ALWAYS gets them the stuff they NEED. So I just thought of a few things she doesnt NEED, but would like anyways for college.

I like the idea of the tote. But you know what was missing out of there when you left and that you had to go get. So put some of the things you couldn't live without while you were in college in there.

Has she decided on a major too? Maybe get a book that's like a pocket guide for her.

I remember getting a couple sets of book ends...I still use them today!

I liked the tote idea. Maybe even throw in some hair color...I know mine changed a couple of times my first year!

According to my husband... the zoo
Another idea...

a few different gift cards...

a phone one in case it's long distance to call home,
a grocery store one for snacks etc.
a couple of fast food ones (college kids always need that)
stamps (my daughter who is in her 3rd year last night said she has none)

i was thinking about phone cards - but she uses her cell phone for everything, free minutes and everything - so I dont think phone cards really would work?

The rest of those ideas are great tho - THANKS!

I got one gift bag sort of thing with tape & scissors, stupid things I would forget in it. The tote bag was one that you can put pictures in...it was sooo cute.

I got another with candy in it. That gift was my favorite....useless but yummy!
I got a DVD from my sister....one of those funny movies for when I am getting relaly mad at my homework...rather relaxing.

I got several of those pens on a chain thingys because everyone in my family knows I loose pens like crazy.

Quarters.... lots and lots and lots of quarters... you have to do your own laundry and you have no idea how difficult it is to get quarters.... trust me on this one.

Also.... what I always wished I'd had was one of those towel/bathrobe thingys... I was SO jealous of all the girls who could go to the shower and come out and wear that and not be trying to hold up a towel while unlocking their room or not having to get dressed in the bathroom.... yes, a bathrobe/towel thing... I'm sorry I don't know exactly what they're called.

My Grandson Graudates this year from High school, collage I can't even beleive it
I still can't beleive where this 17 1/2 years went. I got him a Visa Debit card, an American express gift certificate, and a Discovercard gift certificate, I wish now that I would have put everything on the Visa Debit, and I'm going to get him some gift certificates from, like burger king, McDonald's and Starbucks, juice it up, and maybe staples. You can't tell I Love this Boy can you

I'm having a harder time because she is living at home and commuting to college, so she doesn't need dorm stuff. I am almost leaning towards some type of jewelry.

How about some gas cards? If she'll be commuting, and since gas is so expensive, those always come in handy!
