Today I decided to have some canned food for dinner. First I open up some beets. Zakk came running up and nibbled some. Does anyone know if they have any negative effects on cats, like garlic and onion? He had less than 1/4 teaspoon.
Then I had some tuna, and what a shock, Zakk and Cookie were all over me...

Then I had some frozen corn, which I know is okay for them and Zakk was on me again like lighting. He actually had about 4 kernals of corn, then lost interest.
It's funny because he usually doesn't care less about my food except for the shrimp...

Garlic and onions (especially the onions) can be harmful to both cats and dogs.

The rest is safe. My rex will kill you for lettuce - he loves it. Ling "thinks" she wants it...lol

Hi there, two of my cats like roasted garlic, only small bits and we only give them garlic maybe 4 times a year, can you explain why these are harmful ? They also love olives, again small pieces, but more often. It fact Big Guy Dino treats a piece of olive like cat-nip and rolls around the floor, throwing it around before devouring it. He loves olives None of my cats seemed to have any effects after eating these titbits ??

As a general rule garlic is not good for cats. Having said that, I've had 2 cats previous to Bijou and Mika that absolutely LOVED my spaghetti and meatballs (sauce and meatballs are both loaded with garlic) and it never seemed to do them any harm. Fortunately I don't make it often (takes 2 hours to make and 6 hours to simmer), but Ebony would cry until I made him up his own dish of spaghetti chopped up with a couple chopped meatballs and sauce.
