Without knowing more its hard to say! Its probably just genetics. My cat that I got from a shelter only has a small tail (about two inches). I believe from her looks and behavior she is part Manx, which are cats that normally have either no tails or very short ones. As long as the kitten is able to go the bathroom normally, I doubt there will be any problems! Just keep an eye on it and make sure it pees and poops. I'm sure someone with more info will come by!Originally Posted by Eden77
DioGees 2nd kitten was born without a tail. Is there a reason for this?

I think I did get what I wanted lol in a round about way. She sure ACTS like a dog! She plays tag and hide-n-seek and also charges when her name is called. She's such a blessing! I love her SO much!Originally Posted by newfostermom
Cute!.....Compromise is always good! Especially when you get what you want!
It might have something to do with mommy's tail fault. Where I live the rules for breeding pedigreed cats state that these cats should not be bred (and kittens wil not get a pedigree if this rule is ignored), as the genes responsible for certain tail faults could also lead to more serious skeletal defects in offspring. I hope your kitten is healthy.Originally Posted by Eden77
