Hmmmm..... I think you need something down there they can stand on, but I can't think of what. Are there any fish in your pond and how deep is it?

ohhh!!!! I got it!!! You said screen, just put it below the water not above it. you can get those plastic covered screen type material and just affix it in the pond maybe two inched below the water level and then you wont see it so well but the birds won't drown. The plastic coating will make it last longer too without rusting.

Hope I've helped some!

I was thinking some sort of screen material as well but I am not sure how you would attach it. Fiance recommended putting some sort of log down in the water so they cold climb on it and get out...

A rock would be a good idea as long as it is low to the water so the bird can climb up on it

If you guys have a company that specializes in water gardens they might be able to recommend something also.

Birds CAN swim, just badly.
I would get a piece of slate and use it as a ramp it get out with, cement it in place using a little silicone caulk.

If you put a screen in, it'd have to be really tiny mesh, otherwise, you'll be compounding the problem.
If it has really tiny mesh though, it'll need to be cleaned, very frequently.

IA. If you need me, just meow..
I'm also guessing they think that it's a bird bath too, unfortunately. But maybe if you put some logs or rocks in there, you might be able to fix that problem. You could lean them against the side then they could maybe walk up them to get out??

You can attach it to the rocks with L-brackets. And you can get screen that is big enough for the crap in the water to not clog the holes but small enough for the birdys feets to get stuck!

Is it a natural rock? Or does the grocery store own the rock?

It's part of their landscaping, so I guess they own the rock.........

Perhaps a log or something to add to the landscaping. A big rock is a good idea. You can go to a sand and gravel place and buy one (they might deliver it and you probably would save yourself bail money
)

Well, not exactly -I'd miss the daily radio question if you were in jail!
