I have a litter of kittens about 3 weeks old. I'm not seeing any signs of potty activity. (I know the mom cleans them up) When does this stop and normal "pooping" in a box begin and how do you accomplish this milestone? Any help is greatly appreciated! You guys are the experts!! Thanks!

They won't start using the litter box until they are eating solid foods at 4-6 weeks usually.

I just put the little pan in, Baker went in and peed then the rest just followed. I only found poop in their bedding once, I know other kittens can take a while to get the hang of it though.
I think I was very lucky

My handraised litter didnt use the box till 8 weeks and even then I had one of the three(Benji) peeing in the odd spot. the second litter were way past age(4 months) and came trained already. The latest litter is 6 weeks this friday (they were peeing in thier bed as they had partial contol but wrestling stimulated them on each other). right now they are using the box -no accidents... I guess 5 kittens in the pen they figured they better start being a bit neater

Mine are 5 weeks old, and they have all been using the box for almost 2 weeks....I think it just depends on when ya introduce them to the box too.

It is an individual thing, but as a matter of course, I always introduce the litter box at the same time I introduce solid foods. When the babies begin eating on their own, Mom will stop cleaning them and they will begin to both poop and pee on their own - anywhere they happen to be at the time nature calls, so it would be a good idea to confine them to a place in your home that is small enough to prohibit hiding but with an easy to clean floor, such as a bathroom. I normally use an extra large dog crate for this as it helps to minimize the mess and it allows the kittens to explore both of these new things at the same time.

I didn't know this and I didn't make that connection, but now I think back when they started eating, it clicked-thats exacteley when i started seeing mini-poops from them...TY for that gayef.
