Smidgey was particularly cute this w/e and I gave her lotsa of kisses...well, I do that a lot no matter what - it is just matter of how much she lets me


Do you think our kitties know what human kisses are all about?

She licks me a lot...so she has her own way of communicating her "kisses".

Well, a kiss is a lot like a lick... your mouth is contacting her fur. So maybe she thinks you are grooming her. That's about the same as a human kiss, for a cat. Or close enough anyway.

Without a doubt I believe they know it is our way of showing affection. Ophelia will put her forehead down and push it against my lips when I make a kissing sound at her, and she knows I'm about to give her a kiss (she sleeps next to the lefthand side of my pillow).

Alix, the cheeky creature, will simply come french kiss you when she's on your lap and feeling affectionate. I have never been able to break her of that! I love her but bleagh - run to the sink for a quick wash off!

Neat...she is the only cat in my life who has done this, so I think it is very special!

Yes, I think they do. My two cats are fed two times a day. They eat in their pet carriers. Muffin always leaves a few grains of his food. Speedboat is always hungry and wants his and more. So I have taught him to kiss me when I let them out and he know he will get one or two pieces extra of his brothers leftovers.

Petunia does that as well, I absolutely love it!!!

If I make a kissing sound my cat at home will jump either on me or on a table if I am sitting at the table and headbut me
it is quite sweet

I think Smidge just tolerates it. I have to make the vibrating MMMM sound too while I do it.

So jealous of the ones that come and get it! You all are so lucky.

LuckyGirl does that too! She even hops on the back of the couch so she can be closer to eye level when I get home from work. She also puts her head sideways for me to kiss her on the cheek...then we sort of rub faces for awhile. (which leads to cat hair getting stuck in my mascara, the 15 minutes in the bathroom trying to dig it out of my eye!
) I definately believe they know it's kisses, or at least affection... cause it's the same things they do to their babies and other cats.

Me too! Ginger hates to be held or touched much, yet she'll hold very still with her eyes closed so I can give her kisses all over her face. When I'm done, she waits with her eyes closed for one second longer, just in case, then peeks at me and TAKES OFF!!!

LOL these are all very cute and funny, and some of them even familiar.
One of my Meezers is very much a loner and I always give her a kiss on her head after treat time.
I pick her up and say "I need my kiss Miss Pitty" and she squinches her eyes and bows her head, then breathes a sigh of relief when it's all over! LOL

Of course! When I leave in the morning and kiss them goodbye they always lift their little heads up for me to kiss them. And they seem to love to be showered with kisses.

My Dallas gives me kisses all the time and when she wants some in return she head butts me...cats are so cute when the do stuff like that.

Trent is my kissy kitty.
He will put his mouth to mine (closed
) and hold it there, and even close his eyes for kisses. He also pushes his head to my lips because he knows I like kissing the top of his head. Sometimes he does his kitty kisses to our foreheads too (not licking, just touching his mouth to us).

Ophelia does licks for kissing Daddy, but she doesn't do this with me. I consider it getting kisses if she purposely gets her face within an inch of mine.

Several times a week Garfield gets right in my face and rubs his whiskery cheek up against my mouth. It sure feels like he is kissing me! I have never had a cat before who did this!

Festus on the other hand....if she is sitting on a book I am reading or something, and I want to get rid of her, I can just give her a few good kisses on the head. She can sometimes tolerate one kiss, but more than that and she gets up and walks calmly away.

I have never been able to kiss Jazzy, but she kisses Garfield A LOT!
