an ice cube in Iowa...
I'm so thrilled you found her! What a relief!

She very well could be pregnant now, but the important thing is that she's back with you safe and sound! It would be a great time to have her spayed.

I'm glad you found her...or she found you. I had my cat spayed at 6 weeks and although the kittens were weaned, she's still lactating and feeding them...

I live is the US and my vet will not spay a momma cat until the kittens are 8 weeks old. So I am taking momma and babies in at the same time!

There isn't a universal policy...so she can certainly talk to the vet about spaying the cat...especially given the fact that she has already had kittens and may be pregnant again. Having kittens too close together can lead to the second set of kittens having more health issues...waiting a few weeks may mean that they cannot terminate the pregnancy. That is why she really needs to talk to her vet about the options.

yeah kittens are about 4 weeks old... i dont know when we could get her spayed. but by the time we could probably get her spayed (if we wait until she's done nursing) she'll be about 2... 3 at the most weeks pregnant. if it was your cat... what would you do? i want to do what is best for HER. keep in mind the 4 week old kittens.

Jessie...if it were me..I'd have a heart to heart with the vet. Explain the WHOLE situation...the fact that she has 4 week old kittens, the fact that she got out and the chance that is indeed pregnant again. For now...she needs to be back with her kittens and kept at least 2 doors away from getting outside again.

I would call your vet and see when is the earliest you can have her spay. I would explain the situation and if they can't do it now and if you have to wait until the kittens are older ask if they can still spay her even if she will be 2-3 weeks preggers. I know it is a higher risk when they are that far along. me personally I couldn't terminate a pregnancy that would just break my heart. So I would just call the vet and talk to him/her about all your options. Good Luck!

I know there is no universal policy I was just saying that the vet I see will not spay until the babies are 8 weeks old. I know every vet is different. I have heard some of the people on here that their cats get spayed the day after their kittens are born. I guess it all depends on the vets policy and what they think is best for the cat.

Also....you could always ask the vet to spay the cat and not tell you whether she was pregnant or not. Again...we have to consider what is best for your cat which is why a call to the vet will be best.

I think the most critical thing for now is no more trips outdoors....until she is spayed.
