Why does my cat nip me when I get upset?

I have a 8 year old persian mix called Ricky....he's a cool dude but I if I stub my toe, drop something, hit myself ...or basically anytime I get upset real fast due to pain or agrevation he comes over and nips me. He doesn't bite just nips me and he'll keep doing it until I calm down.....lol Is this tipical my first cat just took off. I've had times particuliarly when I've stubbed my toe or something that I'm trying to put ice on my foot and keep my cat from nipping the other foot at the same time.....lol

Sounds like you have one of those "in tune" with you kitties who does not like seeing or feeling when your upset. Look at it as he's trying to make sure you are always ok, or he has to remind you.... Kind of cool!
