Hi! For some reason i cant find my other thread thing, but my cat had her kittens last night! Everything went well, 2 white ones, and 2 gray ones. But she is an outdoor cat, and this is her first time having kittens, i think she should be moved inside, but we also have an inside cat. So what should i do?? The outside cat isn't litter box trained, so should i put her in a big dog crate, or should i leave her outside??? I wont be home from school until 4:00 p.m. So would she be okay in a dog crate ALL day long? Or would it stress her out too much?? And could she spread anything to my inside cat??(we didnt have time to get her vaccinated before she had kittens). Sorry i have so many questions.

She needs to be brought in immediately! If you can seperate her into a bathroom with her kittens, that would be best. If she has never used a litterbox...use a very low sided aluminum pan and put in some potting soil (that you can buy at a garden store) and gradually add litter to it. Over time you can switch her over to litter only. Also, if you are concerned about her trying to get back outdoors..then use a dog crate that you put into a room with a door. Occationally, you can let her out of the dog crate to stretch her legs...but the key is to have her indoors so she cannot get pregnant again. Cats can get pregnant again as early as a week after giving birth...and cats that have litter after litter too close together can end up having kittens with more health issues. Since you have allowed her to remain outdoors for longer than a week...I would get her spayed now. You should also have her vaccinated at that time.

Since this cat has not received vaccinations...you need to keep her seperated from your other cat until she has received her vaccinations. You should also wash your hands between visiting her/her kittens and your other cat. Please do the responsible thing for this girl before she becomes pregnant again. If you need a low cost spay clinic..go to this link and click on your state:

Basically, it isn't very safe for a Mom cat outside with kittens. I think it would have been easier on everyone if you had brought her in a few weeks before having the kittens, but what is done is done.

Put her in a separate bedroom or bathroom, where your other kitty can't get at her or the kittens. You will likely have a major fight on your hands if the two cats see each other initially when one has a litter. Also, since she is unvaccinated, she could carry illness or catch illness from your kitty.

I foster, and often bring a new preggers kitty in, and keep it in a separate room for the full 8-10 weeks until the kittens are old enough to leave Momma, and the Momma can be spayed. It really isn't too hard to do, and is the best way to keep your cat and kittens safe.

I'm glad her delivery went fine, and the kittens seem healthy!

Shey...I wouldn't say she needs any supplements....but tell the vet she has not received shots yet and will need shots for a cat that is allowed outdoors. Did you bring her indoors yet??

She should be fed as much kitten food as she wants. There are really no supplements that I know of....will you be bringing her inside?
