We have two older ctas who are very well trained inside. They really do not problem scratch inside. The issue is when they are outside and want in, they scratch the door seal to shreds to let us know they want in. We have lived in three different houses were this has happened. We are moving again and I need a preventative measure for the new house!

I have attached a few pictures to explain what I am talking about.

Is there some sort of door seal gaurd that anyone knows about? This is a huge problem and I need to take care of it.

Leaving them inside all day is no option with these two. If they dont get to go outside when they want to they start acting up (knocking items off counters, etc etc). A cat flap isnt an option either, this is a rental property & I cannot cut holes in the doors.

I'm going to Home Depot today to try and find something to gaurd these.

That is an option I guess, except I have to get another door ($$), & switch the locks on the two. I'm not trying to shoot down your ideas, I'm just telling you my situation.

Thanks for your input, I'll post more after I make a trip to Home Depot and the new house.

I have a great idea how to do this, I might market it. I just wanted to get other ideas first.

Try using some Bitter Apple spray on the door - just lightly spray the area. Bitter Apple prevents cats/dogs from chewing on things and the scent should make them stop too.
