Hey folks! I have read as many threads as I possibly can. My poor kitty is a 4 year old spayed female, and no matter what I've tried, I still can't seem to get her to stop peeing and pooping in places that she should't.

It didn't start till I moved into my current home, which is a 3 level townhouse. We added a literbox to each level of the house, and 2 in the basement. I put one up on the wet bar, and one behind it, which is lenolium on the floor, not carpet. I clean my boxes two, sometimes three times a day, so a dirty box isn't the problem.

I then took her to the vet to make sure it wasn't a UTI, which was a no go. I got a full blood pannel done, and a full urine check, and stool sample, everything i can think of. No worms, no UTI, nothing wrong with her at all. Which is why I'm considering this a behavior problem, and not a health problem.

We tried switching liters, thinking that maybe as she was getting older, that she might not like the liter I was using before. I tried scented clay, unscented clay, fine grain clay, large grain clay, pine liter, citrus liter, corn liter. Pretty much any brand that i could find in any store. The cheapest, to the most expensive. Nothing mattered.

There was a cat that lived here, that was not fixed. I know that he sprayed, so i knew when i moved in that I was going to have to replace the carpet in some places. I have since replaced all of the carpet and the padding underneath in the house, and even most of the drywall. I even replaced linolium behind the wet bar, in my kitchen, and in the bathrooms.

I've tried feliway plug-ins and spray. Neither made any difference.

I have two cat tree's, and a perch in a window, that is the highest point in the house.

I then tried locking her in the bathroom, and using the seclusion method. She was in the bathroom for almost 2 weeks, and i felt so amazingly guilty. She was doing really well, didn't have any accidents for the whole last week, so we let her out, thinking that she'd be ok. That was a no. She went right back to her old habits.

I've made sure that there were no cats in the back yard, that would be causing her to stress out during the day, while I'm gone.

I'm at my wits end. There's nothing else that I can think to do. My husband is threating to make me get rid of her, because he cant handle it anymore. He's tired of coming home, and cleaning up pee and poop (he gets home before me), and ruining our new carpet. Not to mention, he doesn't want to miss something, and have our daughter accidently get into it. Car fecees can be deadly to young children, and while I think she's smart, she's also been caught playing in the toilet, so i wouldn't put a friendly cat log totally out of the realm of possiblity.

If there's anything else that you can think of. Anything at all, please help me out!

Thank you so much!

Aww, poor girl. She is under stress and seems to take longer to adjust to her new home than the others.
You have done everything possible, but I was wondering what cleaners you and your husband use to clean up her mess. Perhaps they are not enough and your cat can still smell traces of her poop/pee?
It is also a good idea to keep her in one room with a litterbox, some activity toys, treats whenever you leave the house. Maybe she gets more stressed when you are not around and nervously wanders around the house messing up everywhere.
Good luck!
PS: I did not know that cat feces was deadly to small children.

Well, i hope it's not stress still. We've been in this house for over a year now, and i would assume that she would have been adjusted by now. We are using Nature's Miracle (i think that's the name of it, it's in a white bottle with red writing), and a hand held steam cleaner to clean up after her. I thought it was an effective way.

Yup. My pedatrician told me that. I couldn't clean the cat boxes while i was pregnant, because of the bacteria, which is the same bacteria that is deadly to small children.

and after reading this over to my husband, he reminded me of a couple things that we tried to do, but didn't work. We put foil down in her favorite places, but it didn't matter, she went right on em, or would move em out of the way. She doesn't care if it's a hard or soft surface.

Thanks again.

I would talk to your vet about some "mood" medication for your cat.
We have a cat who pee's on my fiance's clothes or bags when she's upset and it got out of hand when we took in a stray mom cat to let her have her babies.

They prescribed a "kitty prozac" and we confined her to our office for about a month, with supervised time out in the rest of the house. The medication zoned her out and calmed her down (which made the confinement/retraining work) and she stayed on it until she refused the medicine. and I think by that time she accepted the other cat and kittens, though the peeing didn't stop completely until we found a home for the mom cat.

Perhaps some medication may help your situation. It's a little strange, but I think in certain situations it can really help.

Oh and if she's still peeing in the same areas, then my guess is you also didn't get all of the urine out. we use Nature's miracle also and I find it works best to SATURATE the area and then when you think you've got it, pour even more on.

Then for good measure, after it dries, do it all over again. and of course, don't give her access to any of those spots until they're completely dry and treated.

I need to buy stock in that company.

How expensive is the medication? I'll have to ask my vet about that.

And cleaning, yeah, we tend to soak it two or three times, to make sure we got it all, and then steam clean it. Just to make sure that it's all out.

Thanks again.
