Can you see the "throw back to 100 years ago" mode of transportation in this pic? I was driving through Amish country today............

You really should be careful when you are driving the horse and buggy, Susie!

I wonder about hay prices, I used to raise Throughbreds and Quarter Horses, they can eat some hay & grain, and the cost of shoes for them and vet bills, I'm sure they haven't gotten any better price wise.

The Amish culture is very interesting. This photo is really neat, Susie! A horse and buggy, now that would be the way to travel!

these amish are very popular in Rome and Vienna.

I am way too chicken to touch a horse or go near one

Wow! Sometimes old resources are still good...There's no shortage of hay coming anytime soon is there? Maybe I'll start driving one to work.

Just curious but would their beliefs stop them using modern vetinary treatments !

I love driving horses but not sure I could cope completely without modern technology.

Fran, I think people have confused you; the people are called Amish (after Jakob Ammann, one of their early leaders) or, if they live in the area they first settled in, Pennsylvania "Dutch" (Deutsch). They live pretty much like they did centuries ago, and reject modern conveniences, like electricity, phones, and vehicles.
The coach is called a "buggy".
