Hello Everyone,
I am new to the forum (well I guess that was obvious as this is the new cat on the block section). I have an approximately 7 week old kitten (Tuscon). She is helping me type right now in between attempting to attack my toes. Tuscon is the second kitten in our home. Our first (Shakespeare- shakes for short) died after his declaw.
So I have been hesitant about trying this again.

However, when Tuscon arrived 2 days ago I remembered why I loved my time with Shakes so much.

We are enjoying getting to know each other and all of the inn and the outs of the house. Can't wait to have lots more to share.

Loving my beautiful baby girl
Hi! My girlies and I welcome you and Tuscan to tcs!
We're so happy you've joined us and look forward to getting to know you both better! You must love your new baby so much!

I'm so very sorry you lost precious Shakes. We here at tcs are strongly against declawing. It's so unfortunate that you learned one of the potential dangers first hand.
I'm glad you are now better educated on the matter and will not be exposing little Tuscan to the potentially dangerous, painful procedure.

Please let me know if I may help you in any way as you learn your way around the site!

welcome and again so sorry about your loss.
I was about to get Kitty declawed when she went in for her spay, but after talking with these wonderfull people here and read and saw articles about the matter, I changed my mind in a heart beat.. Kitty is now spayed, has her claws and Noah (my new 7 week old kitty) is not going to get declawed either... I do wish sometimes he didnt have claws though.. that little devil.. hehe.. but welcome to the family and again sorry.. *hugs*.. You got any pics of your new kitten?

Hi and welcome to The Cat Site,

It's a great place that is lots of fun and addicting!

You'll love it here

I'm so sorry about your kitten
. If you don't already have them, invest in a couple of good quality scratching posts (that are sturdy), start now with clipping your kittens nails on a regular basis (so she will get used to it) and you shouldn't have any problems.

Hello and welcome to TCS.

I am sorry to hear of your loss and that you had to learn the dangers of declawing firsthand, but now you can use your experiences to help other people prevent this from happening to another cat. Thank you for sharing and I hope to get to know you and your furbaby on the other forums soon,

Kallie
