Around 6 weeks is when the first Distemper shot is given...check with your vet about the timeline for shots and deworming (and of course spaying/neutering).

We start giving our kittens shots about 6-8 wks and then every month after that until the series is completed.
I'm in Iowa, and Steuben got his first set at 6 weeks.
