I hope you all remember me, I posted here a week or so ago about Sneakers, my two year old unfolded Scottish Fold. Here she is.

This is Ziggy. We got him fixed apparently one week too late.

Sneakers weighed 4.5 lbs pre-pregnancy. She is now about 30-35 days pregnant. We didn't mean for this to happen at all, we just didn't think Ziggy was old enough yet to get her pregnant. We have moved three times in the past year, so we didn't have the money or stable environment needed to get Sneakers fixed... we were crossing our fingers we got Ziggy neutered in time. Whoops... didn't work. :/ I had been struggling on the decision to spay (and abort) her babies, but I have another thing to consider: I was raised in a very conservative, religious, nearly cult-like, pro-life environment. My mother is still this way. I deconverted a few years ago, but my mom doesn't know. She has a terminal illness, and will probably pass in a couple years. My husband and I live with her now to help take care of her. If she found out that I deconverted (thus, going to HELL in her eyes, something she shouldn't have to deal with in her final year or so of life), she would be devastated... and she knows that Sneakers is pregnant, and she knows that the "old" me wouldn't even have considered an obortion for even a cat. So, I was left with the decision to lie (and my husband and I aren't good liars) or face the fact she was going to find out.

I took her to the vet, as I promised you guys. She now weighs 6 lbs 3 oz. She's definitely pregnant. The vet said she'd probably be fine. The bad news is that she's not far along enough to be able to see the babies, so we have to take her in a couple of weeks to try the X-rays again. The vet said that she'd be okay with up to 6 babies, but he suspects she doesn't have that many. He said if her babies are extra big, or she has a lot of them, she *might* need a c-section, but nothing life-threatening. He said he'd be able to tell me more after the next visit.

So, to answer you guys, I am more than likely going to let her have the babies. We have an IVEC (emergency vet) less than five minutes from our house if she needs a C-section. I think she'll be fine.

Good luck to you and Sneakers!

She'll have a very neat-looking litter, I'm sure! What a pretty mom-to-be!

Any plans to keep a kitten or two?

I think that Ziggy's name should have been Sneaky.

Keep us updated about how Sneakers is coming along.

I keep her in my prayers.

I can totally understand your decision. She looks like she's a sweet thing, and he looks like he has a bit of mischief in him. You are going to get some beautiful gray kitties there! Keep us updated on her!

My mom wants one, and so does my mother-in-law, as does my aunt.
I will be seeing her babies around for sure.

Thanks, guys!

Duplicate post! Sorry....

Hey, rugratz... I've been thinking of Skittles for you! I'm on pins and needles, although not nearly as much as you, I am sure.

LOL Well, one day, my mom and I were sitting around just chatting and I had Sneakers with me (then, her name was Mikaela, a Finnish name). My mom accidentally called her "Sneakers" and it stuck. But it isn't "Snickers," the candy bar... it's Sneakers... like sneaky... sneak around.

Godiva, my Burmese, had her name long before I even met her. I'd always wanted a sable Burmese girl, and I knew that I'd name her Godiva because sable Burmeses are like fine chocolate. And, as I correctly assumed, like divas...
