Actually got two kittens in seperate batches but with the same colouration.
Which by now has me absolutely puzzled.. as to set what colour he is for when I am to put him up for sell...
Now I'm wondering if any of you cat lovers can help me...

Not meaning his red brother..
But the silvery one with black face, ears, legs n' paws, and tail..

I'd say he's a black smoke.
Keep in mind though that kittens' colors can change as they get older and he may lose the smokey color and keep the black.

If he stays as he is though, black smoke.

Right now he looks like a black smoke; but like others have said - that could change.

Usually one parent has to be a smoke to produce a smoke. So if neither parent is smoke, then he probably will change to a more solid black.

Young kittens are hard to tell if they are smokes or not.

I'd say black, pure and simple. He doesn't seem to be silvered anywhere else than on than on the thorax. I think it's more likely he's frosted (fever coat). You can read more about fever coat here: http://www.showcatsonline.com/fever_coat.htm

I had a kitten with fever coat and he was typically grey on the body byt were black as the nigh in his face, on his legs and on his tail. I thought he was a black smoke, but he grew out of it (he's completely black today) and since then I've learned about fever coat and I've seen more smoke cats so I'm sure he had a fever coat.

He had the same color as your black kitten.

I agree it was probably due to a fever, but the black points on a smoke coat are amazing! I've never seen one quite like that! I'd keep him

That's really interesting. I wonder if it would explain why a foster baby I had (black DLH) turned brown in the pattern shown at the site. He was in a shelter, rescued, and had a URI...that would seem to be enough stress for a fever coat, I would think. As his hair grew out, he turned black again. Can fever coats be anything but gray?

That is a black kitten. If they are smoke they will smokey paws, face etc - I love inside out smokes.

You know the smokier/greyer a BLACK kitten is when they are younger the better colour they will be when they are older. My bet is he will be jet black in a few months.

Kelly - yup fever coats can be other colours.
