My cat DioGee had her kittens about a day 1/2 ago. Why would she be wanting to go outside already? She keeps standing by the door meowing but when I go back to where her kittens are and call for her, she comes running in. She's not tired of being a mommy already is she?

Oh, don't let her out! She can get pregnant very soon after giving birth. She also might bring something into the kittens, like a disease or virus
I wouldn't let her out until she has been spayed.

No, I'm not letting her out. I'm just concerned that she WANTS to go out this soon after having her kittens. It bothers me that she would just get up and leave them lay there.

My momma did leave her kittens soon after giving birth and I was worried too. As soon as they cried or we went to her nest, she would come right back. She has been a good mom. I think sometimes they just need a break. I only have two and I need a break

As long as she isn't neglecting them when they cry or leaving for long periods, I wouldn't be too worried.

It might be part of their natural instincts? if they were outside she'd have to go hunt and stuff and leave the kits, but she's (I hope) always come back... good for you to keep her indoors! I know that can be difficult, they are so sneaky!

First off, very cute name. I've knownn people with cats named dog before, but not quite like that.

I do not think that she has tired of them, however, as cats can go into heat as early as a week after giving birth, I would suggest putting at least two doors between DioGee and the outdoors until you can get her spayed, if possible (just in case she goes into heat and tries to dart out every time the door is opened. A lot of people have ended up with two litters that way.).

an ice cube in Iowa...
I'm also thinking she could be in heat again, too. It can happen very shortly after delivery. Please don't accidently let her slip out, as easily as that can happen.

Do you have plans to have her spayed soon?

Eden..you may want to confine her and her kittens into a room so she doesnt' leave them.
