I love cooking enough that it is my therapy after a day at work. Putting a decent -- not necessarily fancy, but nutritious and satisfying -- meal on the table gets me out of the 9-5 and into my nurturing role.
But there are times in our life when even 30 minutes to prepare a meal is more than is available, since there won't then be time to consume it. I really value certain convenience foods that make it possible to put a decent meal on the table in 10 minutes or so, and thus go out the door with a decent meal in our tummies.
Convenience foods have come a looooooooooooong way, since they first came on the market. Some of them are actually worth the money now. I read labels like crazy. The fewer ingredients the better; the 'h' word avoided like the plague; and if there's a string of unpronouncables, it stays on the shelf. But if the ingredients are all ones I recognize and would use myself, and the product is tasty, I'm not going to pass up the time-saving when it's important.
All of which is not to say that there aren't a lot of over-convenienced products. I hadn't noticed Go-Tarts (probably because I'm not interested in Pop-Tarts, either), but that description just has me shaking my head.
