This is not for either of my kids, but my roomies cat. She's a little....shall we say pleasantly plump? she can't take care of her back fur very well
unfortunately, this has resulted in several bad knots on her back. The other problem is, she doesn't like anyone except her mom, and will *not* tolerate a brush near her, even when she's un-knotted. We both know if we take kitty to a groomer, she'll fly off the handle, biting and scratching and hissing.
Our question is, d'you think a vet would do it for us? maybe sedate her or something? We're not trying to sound cruel, and we *are* concerned that she's in pain, thanks for any suggestions,
Mandi

It's a very good idea to take her to the vet - even if she freaks out, they'll know what to do without needing to sedate her. I would suggest that after the clipping, you keep the area clipped for the duration...

I breed Persians and I've had to take cats to the vets before to have them sedated and shaved. It's a better choice than a groomer, in your situation, IMO.
