This is my first time posting. I just received a 6 1/2 week old kitten (Tuscon). When I picked her up yesterday that woman whom I adopted her from said it looks like she has worms. She had a little diarrhea last night, but no stool this AM. We have an appointment with the vet this afternoon, but she is still adjusting and has not used the litter box since. Does anyone know if they need stool to test for worms? Are there any other signs and symptoms?

Also, any suggestions to help kittens become comfortable in a new home?

Thanks!

They do need a stool sample to test for worms, but the vet will get a sample at the office (by digging for gold if you know what I mean!) So best is to take a sample with, if not, the vet will get one.

Most likely they will have you worm the kitten with Strongid, because most kittens have worms!

It is best for kittens to stay with their Momma until 10-12 weeks. You have adopted a very tiny baby, and she will need to be watched closely to be sure she is eating and drinking ok.

Yes I agree. We got our new kitten at about6-6 1/2 weeks old too... I didnt relize that you should wait till about 8+weeks. but we've been keeping an eye on him, we feed him the recomended 1/4 cup of kitty food daily and he eats it all up and drink all his water that he needs too,, He's going to be a very healthy kitty

If they can not get a sample like with Skittles they can deworm anyways. I had Skittles dewormed because I did not know who the mom was...
