I was loking through the website of my cats breeder. I was just looking at pictures and there was a pic of a mom with her new litter, under the pic it said something about a new litter of foundation kittens?

Just curious what this means?
Im not a breeder, just curious.
Thank you!

were you looking at perhaps bengals?? if so foundation is F4 generation... or 4 genrations from the wild cat ... foundation or sbt = domestic and the beginning of a good breeding program

Cats.
If I'm not mistaken Foundation Cat will be the first cat that the breeder adopted for the cattery.

If this was a foundation litter then it means this was the first litter born in the cattery.

Feel free to correct me..

Yes, foundation is supposed to mean the cats you originally used to establish your cattery with. However, the term is often used (and missapplied) to the first 4 generations of domestic cats crossed with wild cats. Like bengals and savannahs. The term that should be used for that though is Filial.
You might just want to ask the cattery what they mean by the term.
