We had 3 kittens March 29th....the first two are now eating wet food and dry food...but the 3rd born runt,Peppy Le Mew((striped one)) is not eating and mama is not nursing anymore. I have tried putting on her mouth, paws, and she sits and watches the other 2 and mama eating...but still, not interested. She is so small....skinny...but other than that has lots of energy and is very playful. Not sure what else to do....any suggestions please???

Might have no choice but to force feed every meal in to the mouth.. Use a bottle open the mouth wipe food in the cheeck.. Never hurt the baby but just take much and wipe a little inside the mouth.. Does he watch the siblings eat...

if they were born March 29th aren't they almost 2 mo. old?

But everyone gave some good advice. Keep trying give a bottle if you have to and take them to the vets........

Are you mixing the food with kmr or water and heating it up? Also try human chicken baby food, my kitties started on that.

Try some finely shredded boiled chicken and force feed. The kitten may have a problem with swallowing or chewing. Might want a vet to look and see if there is an internal problem.

Thank you...How is skittles??? Yes, she sits and watches all of them eat...she looks kinda sad..then she goes to the water dish and drinks...and watches them some more...then drinks. she tried to take my bologna sandwich from me!!!! But not the kitty food!! Yes, I mix it all with water...the other two eat mamas food without water. They don't touch the kitten food I mix up with water. And they all try to get our food!!!
But this morning I saw Peppy at the dry kibble dish...playing with it...and watching the others eat again.....she tries to suck off of mama, but mama walks away...mama is in heat again...*sigh*....when mama is sleeping, the kittens get a quick chance to suck...but thats about it.

I would try soaking the kibble in KMR, sodium free chicken broth, or water. Maybe she just really doesn't like the taste. She sounds sad, makes me want to cry.

an ice cube in Iowa...
I'd probably take her to the vet as soon as you absolutely can. What you've described IS sad!!! If she's playful and active, however, she can't be suffering too much...

I would in the meantime keep make a KMR "gruel" for her mixed with wet kitten food...almost an oatmeal consistency.

Thanks...I keep hearing everyone talk about "KMR".....may I ask what that is?? I keep thinking in my head----kitten replacement milk----that sounds good to me...but who knows...I'm a blonde and it could be something totally different!!!
As to Peppy eating...last night I heard this "crunching" sound coming from the kitchen, and I jumped up thinking,"Oh God, What have they gotten into now!!!".......but low and behold...it was PEPPY!!! She was crunching away on the dry kitten food!!!! She really had me fooled!! Sneaky kitty. I see her game plan now...
....eat when no one is looking, then play up the "sad hungry kitten" when everyone else eats....she is so bad sometimes...trying to get my food, and almost succeeding in getting into the cake my son baked for me!!! Their new game is to see who gets closer to the turtle tank...hehehehehe......http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g188/Peppy_Le_Mew/CLEANtankwithrealplants.jpg

Yes, KMR is kitten replacement milk, or basically that. I don't know the initials' meanings for SURE.

And...I was wondering if she was secretly eating...little stinker!
