Hi all! I recently went to the pet store, and a large three or four tiered "Kitty Stand" was marked at $275.00 !!! So my boyfriend and I decided to try to construct our own. Anyone else attempt this?? I'm sure there is.....I would like to see everyone's creations, because I'm sure there are many more elaborate than ours! Here are pics of the one we built with and without our babies. By the way...they absolutely LOVE this thing!!! They were trying to check it out as we were building it....LOL! The pics are the clickable thumbnails, too.

Is there any website with DIY directions for something like a cat tree? I need "DIY directions for dummies" type directions. I'd love to build something like that for our two, but I am one of those types who can't even hammer anything without hitting my own fingers a few times. I suspect I'd have to wrangle my boyfriend into helping, as he is a little better at this kinda stuff.
Where I live, bigger cat trees are well over $200, and most cat tree sites on Ebay won't ship to Hawaii--or if they do, the S&H is more than the cost of the tree! They look relatively simple to make...or am I just dreaming?

As a matter of fact, there IS a website with directions I had found before constructing ours, but they wanted you to actually PAY before they would send you any type of "blueprints" or plans or simple instructions even!! Let me check around again...maybe I can find a free site...we certainly didn't want to pay, either!!! My sweetie Mike, had brought home a large cardboard "tube" of sorts ((found around electrical supplies and such, apparently electrical supplies were shipped in this such tube)) and he brought home 5 flat "shelves"((one extra thick and sturdy we used for the "base" of the tree)) and a few two by fours we cut in length for the support, and a heavy duty glue gun I had used to glue our old carpet to. We didn't spend a dime, since he got all the materials from his job, like the nails and wood and such. I'll look for this website, and see if I can find another to help ya'll out!!!!

I've bought the sisal rope, got the plywood & posts for my cat tree, but that's as far as I've gotten.
I wanted round posts, but didn't know what to buy. What did you use for the round post & the tunnel? Where did you get it?

Yours look awesome! Although, I don't think any of the cats like it.....
I want mine to be able to have fun like that!!

That has got to be the most beautiful tree I have ever seen!!! And the round posts were cardboard on mine......my boyfriend brought home the cardboard tubing from work....electrical supplies and wires come shipped in them...so...maybe if you went to your local hardware store, like Lowe's or Home Depot?????
Not sure....Unless you have a boyfriend, husband, or friend that is in Electronics Engineering Technology...I really don't know where else to get the tubes....I guess you could use PVC piping....????
