Well tazzies babies are now 5 weeks old, they all are named finally, Tweek is the boy, the only long haired one, then fawn is tazies mini me. willow reminds me of a snow lepord with her stone like markings, and then una with all her lovely patterns.

But they show no interest in eating food at all. i keep trying several times a day, but all taht ever happens is they lick it off their faces and wander away. In fact i have to shut taz out of the room or she will eat all the baby food. So im at a loss, should i just give it another week, and try again or what?

Are you mixing it with kmr or water to make it soupy and heating it? If you're already doing that, try again in a day or so.

an ice cube in Iowa...
Yeah, definitely mix it with a bit of KMR and warm it ever so slightly...I nuke it for about 8 seconds. That brings every thing to lukewarm/room temp. That may help!

yes its warm, and wet, and mixed with KMR. and microwaved for a minute to make it really soft, then cooled and they wont touch it. ive been trying for 2 weeks now to get them interested. but nothing is getting them into real food.

Sometimes, you just need to show them how it's done ... smear a little bit of food on your fingers and gently put it in the corners of their mouths ... repeat this process, but as you do, pull your hand closer and closer to the dish of food until your finger is actually IN the food. Once they begin lapping from the plate, you can remove your hand. Be patient. They will catch on and begin eating on their own.

what i do, is make the food and then go in the room with all the kittens.
I put food on each of their mouths in turn so that they have to lick it off. I also put some on their paws in hopes that they will eat it there too.
Generally they just lick it off their faces and wander away. I will pull them back to the food and start over. till one of them mews loud enough to call taz. I have to lock her outta the room in order to feed them, or she will chase them off and eat it herself.. course she ends up eating it all anyway...
ill keep trying, they have to start eating soon right? I mean taz dosent seem to mind them nursing all the time, but sooner or later shes gonna.

Well, at least Taz is getting the extra nourishment she needs
My 5 wk old kittens were not interested 3 days ago in the food but today they climbed all over each other for it. Keep trying and in the mean time Taz gets a treat. I am using the 2nd Step formula mixed with wet food. I make a thick soup and they loved it. I too have to lock the momma cats out.

While I understand the frustration with Taz eating all the food, actually it is how she teaches her babies to eat from a dish ... you could try closing her out for the first few minutes until you determine you are going to be unsuccessful on that attempt and then let her in to eat the food - her babies will watch her and learn from her.
