My mama cat gave birth to 5 babies on 4/13. They kittens are now eating wet food and still nursing some. My poor mama cat is looking so thin no matter how much she eats! She look so bad, but acts normal! Is there anything else I can do for her to help her gain weight?

I would call the vet. I am sure that can not be good. The babies are 4 weeks now. Did ya try then on some food. Might give mom a break. Was she clean of parasites.

The kittens eat food also and yes she was given a clean bill of health. She is rather small to begin with hence the name Tiny-One lol. My mother said it is normal to look like that and I am just use to her being fat and pregnant. Im still gonna call the vet in the morning!

Maybe she has worms. Missy didn't loose much weight at all, thanks to her piggy appetite so I didn't have to deal with this issue.

I would also think possible worms. Try giving her extra meals, she may just need a little more calories. Give her as much as she would like to eat during this time. She may even like some canned food or KMR. It takes a lot out of the Momma when she is nursing her babies. It sounds like you are doing a great job with her and her babies.

YOu could try giving her the kitten replacement milk, I always have it on hand in case the kittens need it and give mom a little each day. It helps to keep her chubby.

Ethel's kittens are 7 weeks today and she eats nonstop and is skinny too. after being so fat and never having had "normal" weight cats it's pretty weird but from all I have read it seems to be normal. The kittens don't nurse as much, more so to go to sleep but when they are stretched out nursing they look almost as big as mom so she is probably just burning lots of calories!

Give her some turkey or some protein as a treat.

Momma cats should be allowed to eat as much as they will with food and water available at all times....
The kittens can be started on food as well to take some of the burden off her, it takes a lot of energy to produce milk for those babies

I would suggest taking her to the vet, it sounds like she probably has worms.

Well I had Tiny-One into the vets the first thing this morning where he said she is doing normal. Her weight is fine. He said I'm just use to her being bigger due to pregnancy and she has put on weight I just dont see it because I am with her 24/7. Thanks for all the responses!
